I was very excited to see that Bovada already has preliminary betting odds published for the Top 20 of American Idol Season 12. Not surprisingly Angela Miller and Kree Harrison currently lead the pack, but I was amazed that of the top 6, five of them are female (Amber Holcomb and Burnell Taylor are tied for #5). If we graph them we see the odds much more visually:
From the graph it is much easier to see the various "steps" in the current odds for the Top 20. Along with Angela and Kree, Aubrey Cleland and Janelle Arthur are also among the odds on favorites, and the two contestants with the least odds of winning are Charlie Askew and Zoanette Johnson. I find it interesting that one of the ladies with one of the best voices so far this year, Candice Glover, is in the middle of the pack at 20/1 odds, probably since she is seen as going far but not having the full Idol "image" to be able to win it all. Instead more marketable and contemporary contestants like Aubrey, Burnell, Amber Holcomb and Paul Jolley have better odds than Candice. Even Lazaro Arbos (who is barely comprehensible when he sings and marketable only for his sob story) has better odds than Candice. After tonight and Wednesday when we hear the Top 20 perform again, perhaps we will have a better idea of who will be the finalists.
