American Idol Season 12 - First Night of Voting!

Hurray, it is the first night of actual voting on American Idol Season 12, and luckily today it is the ladies since the guys tomorrow night should not be nearly as entertaining. It's been about one hour since the show ended here in central time, and the current DialIdol scores seem as misleading as usual this early in the season. The current "DialIdol scores" are shown above which are pretty much meaningless. All you have to do is look at the raw vote tally to see what the voting profile using DialIdol currently is:

The only reason Adriana Latonio is on the top of the DialIdol scores is because she has virtually no DialIdol votes at all, a total of 139 votes and 2 busy signals at about 1 hour after the show. Likewise Zoanette has 77 votes and 1 busy signal. Even Angela Miller at the top of the total votes chart has only 87 busy signals and 1156 votes right now. The problem is that just not that many people are using DialIdol anymore since not that many people have dial-up modems anymore! I know my 5 year old laptop still has one, but both my son's almost 2 year old laptop and my wife's brand new one lack a dial-up modem, so they could not use DialIdol at all. I am also not sure how many people still dial a normal phone to vote on American Idol. I bet most people now are voting either via text messaging or online. I will have to admit that the new American Idol Facebook "Super Vote" is a vast improvement to having to type in the fifty captcha codes we needed to type in before. I cast my 50 votes and was done in just a few moments.

After tonight's performances it seems that Angela Miller, Candice Glover and Kree Harrison are pretty much definitely taking 3 of the 5 slots in the finals. The big question is who of the other 7 ladies are taking the two last spots. Janelle Arthur probably has a good chance of grabbing one of them, but the last slot is a huge unknown. I cast all 50 of my votes (and 50 from my cat's Facebook account) for one of the other "middle" ladies since I knew voting for Angela, Candice or Kree (who I actually preferred) would be wasting my votes. I won't name who I voted for since I do not want to jinx her, but I will just say she is someone who actually sang pretty well (which means anyone not named Zoanette.) I will have to wait until Thursday to see if my votes helped. I do not understand why they need a 90 minute show to reveal the Top 10 anyway. I would have thought 60 minutes would have been enough.
