With the preliminary American Idol WhatNotToSing numbers released for last night's Top 5 performances, Phillip Phillips has proved that last weeks low ratings were not a fluke! Last week he has a 32 and a 43 to give him an average rating of 37.5 but this week he did even worse! With a rating of 35 for "Time of the Season" and a 28 for "The Letter" his average this week drops to 31.5. If we look at the averages as they have changed over the past few weeks we see some trends:
Last week the 4 contestants not named Phillip were are clustered pretty close together, but this week there are two who saw a good increase and two who remain fairly consistent. If we sort the Top 5 by their average scores this week we see:
1) Hollie Cavanagh (77, 82) = 79.5 average
2) Joshua Ledet (64, 81) = 72.5
3) Jessica Sanchez (49, 74) = 61.5
4) Skylar Laine (59, 55) = 57.0
5) Phillip Phillips (28, 35) = 31.5
So Hollie and Joshua both had two good performances, Jessica had one good one and one not so good one, Skylar had two rather middle of the road performances, and Phillip had two that were rated pretty low. Of course, last week Elise Testone was rated above Skylar, Joshua and Phillip and that did not help her. But if we look at their performance trends over the past few weeks, we can see how Hollie and Joshua are on an upswing, Jessica and Skylar are staying pretty steady, and Phillip is dropping pretty rapidly. It will be very interesting to see the results tonight yet again.
