Why I'll Never Cheat Again

Today was my last English Literature final. I woke up pretty nervous, because this was the complicated and really confusing one. After revising all my notes one last time, I started to get dressed. While dressing, I tried to recall as much as I could. And...blank. I just couldn't remember some stuff! What if it came in the exam? I opened my book and tried to memorize as much as I could, last minute. Suddenly though, a crazy idea struck me. I picked up a pen and jotted down some difficult notes on my hand. Just in case.

The exam started off well, and the questions were pretty good. Everything was going smoothly for about an hour and a half, until...it happened.

These inspectors came into our class and started checking people. In case you don't get it, we have a pretty strict no-cheating policy. If they catch you, your entire examination is cancelled right there. Usually these guys never come, it's just once in a way. Relax, I thought. They've never checked me. They'll just go.

I clenched my fist tightly. My palm was sweating like crazy. I tried rubbing the ink off on my jeans. Great.  Just today I decide to use long lasting ink.

My heart was beating like crazy and I was just hoping no one would discover me. But, things have a weird way of working out, don't they?

For the first time ever, one of the men decided to check me.

That's it. I'm dead.

He took my answer booklet and turned every page to make sure I wasn't hiding notes in there (I kept wiping my hand on my jeans). He checked my desk. Then he asked me to empty out my pockets. I did that, my hands sweating and my heart racing. Just...go...now...

He looked pretty satisfied and went away. The whole thing lasted maybe two minutes, but for me, it was an eternity. I was this close to being discovered. Thank goodness I wasn't.

As someone who never uses unfair means, this was a true reminder not to. First and last time. It was definitely not cool and I kind of regret it. Gee, God sure has a way of pricking our conscience, doesn't he?

God=1, Me=0

The exam went really well, and I'm really happy. But today I learned a really important lesson: cheating is not my thing. It may seem like everyone gets away with it, but it's dangerous and could have cost me my exams. And lets not even mention what my parents would think when I'd have to repeat a whole year!

Well, that's why I will never cheat again. Lesson learned. Mischief Managed.

American Idol Top 10 Betting Odds

Bovada has updated their betting odds to now include just the Top 10 remaining contestants on American Idol Season 12. Their previous odds earlier this week were pretty good at predicting who would stay and who would be eliminated as (excluding Aubrey Cleland) their 8 top favorites all made it through, and their 6 with the lowest odds were all eliminated. They also had 3 contestants as 25/1 long shots, and 2 of those were also eliminated (only Curtis Finch Jr. survived). This week the ordering remains much the same with only some jockeying in the middle. I have again created my own chart with last weeks odds combined (and sorted on) this weeks odds to see how the betting world thinks of the chances for all the contestants:
Angela Miller and Kree Harrison continue to be the favorites with Janelle Arthur right behind them. Burnell Taylor had been the guy with the best odds earlier this week, but now he is second to the highest odds right behind Curtis (the current long shot). Lazaro Arbos is now the guy with the lowest odds. With the number of contestants cut in half everybody's odds should have gone down, and anyone who has not (Amber Holcomb, Paul Jolley, Burnell) should worry that others are gaining momentum on them. The four contestants with the least odds of winning now are all guys. In fact if you look at the gender division in order, it is 3 gals (Angie, Kree, Janelle), then a guy and a gal tied (Candice Glover, Lazaro), then the last gal (Amber), and then all 4 remaining guys (Devin Velez, Paul Jolley, Burnell, Curtis.) This is what the producers wanted, right?

Wow, "What Not to Sing" Actually Accurate for Predicting This Week!

It was pretty impressive how close tonight's results came to the ranking predicted by the "What Not To Sing" ratings for this week as shown from my graph from earlier today (now with red "X" marks to show eliminated contestants). It is scary to think that America actually voted primarily for the correct people! The top 6 all made it through as expected, and then there are two folks who were eliminated, Nick Boddington and Aubrey Cleland, and then the final four Top 10 finalists. The 8 bottom rated contestants for this week were all sent home which is a pretty impressive feat.

Next week's "wild card" sounds interesting where America gets to vote for one more contestant to go on tour with the other 10 finalists. My bet is that Nick and Aubrey were both the #6 vote getters so they will battle it out for a paid summer road trip in 2014. Breanna Steer may have beaten out Aubrey in votes, we will have to see.
