As the powers at Fox try to resuscitate the dying American Idol ratings for next season, at least
former winners continue to sell albums! Last year's winner, Phillip Phillips, continues to see his album remain in the BillBoard Top 100, holding at a solid #56 now after 27 weeks out. Can Candice's album stay in the Top 100 that long? We will see. The only other Idols on the BillBoard chart for last week are the first three female winners, Season 1's Kelly Clarkson (#71), Season 3's Fantasia Barrino (#31) and Season 4's Carrie Underwood (#54), lady winners from years when Idol was fresh and new. I do not have sales numbers from Idol Chatter, but last week's
Hits Daily Double had Fantasia at #33 with 10.8K in sales and with none of the others Idol making their Top 50.
Now that it is June it is only a little more than a month until Candice's album is released. With the
first few weeks of the Idol tour now cancelled, she will need some other heavy promotion for her album to sell any substantial numbers.
