Some movies entertain, others inspire. Honestly, I can't even begin to say just how much I adore 1939's The Wizard of Oz. This is not a movie review, that will come later.
I like to believe that we're all on a journey. We may not know what our destination is, or whether we'll get what we're searching for- but a journey it is. In the movie, we see Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tinman and Cowardly Lion on a journey to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard of Oz. We're a lot like them- we're in search of that special something to complete us.
The question is- are we brave enough to embark upon our journeys? Somewhere (over the rainbow) is a place where we must all go eventually. What matters is the journey. We have to be strong, make friends, and face adventures along the way. There is an Oz- he is Great and Powerful, and no, he is not hiding behind a curtain. As long as we fight all the Wicked Witches and Flying Monkeys that come our way, we'll eventually find what we're searching for. And you know what? It will be worth the journey.
It is up to us to stop living sepia-toned lives, and start living in Technicolor. For that, we have to make friends, share, dream and keep believing. In the end, like Dorothy, we'll realize that we had what we were looking for all along- but the long and hard journey we took will help us see it.
There is an Emerald City, we'll all get there eventually. But let's enjoy the ride down the Yellow Brick Road while we get there!
"To Oz? To Oz!"
