American Idol Season 12 Top 20: Guys vs Gals DialIdol Votes

Wow,  tonight's American Idol with the Top 10 guys seemed to have a steady progression from bad to boring to not that bad. It is scary when you are watching Lazaro Arbos perform and think, "wow, this guy really is not so terrible after all." So I was therefore interested to see if anyone actually cared enough to vote for these people using DialIdol. Above you can see the raw votes for everybody almost exactly 1 hour after the show ended (about the same time I grabbed it for the ladies which I repost below):
Amazingly the only guy receiving any power voting love using DialIdol is the one and only Lazaro himself. His almost 1,400 votes are actually more than any of the ladies had received at this point last night, when Angela Miller had almost 1,200 and Kree Harrison and Janelle Arthur were both at about 1,000. However, if you look at the total votes cast for the guys, there have been only 4,800 in total compared to over 5,300 for the gals. And despite having more votes than Angela at this point, Lazaro only has 36 busy signals compared to her 86 at this point (she ended up with 255 at the end.) I will check tomorrow to see all of the final tallies.

Tonight I did not even use my Facebook Super Vote to vote for any of these guys.  I just do not care enough about any of them. I think it would be more motivating if we could have the ability to actually use our votes to try to vote somebody off (Yes, I am talking to you Charlie Askew, that was truly unbearable to watch.) I could conceivably vote against one contestant by taking my 50 votes and voting 5 to 6 votes to the other 9, but in reality there are other contestants I also do not want to reward with actual positive votes. The only ones I felt deserved an actual positive vote for performing in a way that pleased me tonight would be Burnell Taylor and, dare I say it, Lazaro? Devin Velez and Nick Boddington were okay but did not really excite me enough to vote, I found Paul Jolley too shouty and theatrical, and Cortez Shaw was a bit too cheesy for me. I can also admire Curtis Finch Jr. and Vincent Powell for their vocal prowess, but I just do not enjoy watching them perform.  I thought Elijah Liu picked a terrible song for himself and Charlie was just plain awful. Should I reward Lazaro for performing good enough that I considered him bearable compared to his male competitors? Otherwise I would give all 50 votes to Burnell, and I doubt he needs any since I thought he had the best overall performance and seemed the most likable tonight.

I think American Idol should realize what a disservice they are doing by giving us such a sad group of 10 guys just so the ladies will look better.
