Jennifer Lopez Gets $17.5m Deal To Return To American Idol

Ja Lo is being paid an astounding $17.5m to return to her post as judge on American Idol next season.
'There was a lot of back and forth negotiating on her salary, but now it's finally been settled that Jennifer will earn $17.5m to go back to Idol next season,' a source told MailOnline exclusively.
'It's a major coup for her to land a huge payday like that and I believe she is thrilled with that number. It's a lot more than the $15m Britney Spears was paid to do The X Factor.'
In mid-August there were rumours that Jennifer, the mother of five-year-old twins Max and Emme, was getting a $15m salary for her third season of Idol, but the figure is actually higher.
The $17.5m salary is a big leap from the $12m paycheck J-Lo was handed for her first season of Idol in 2011. For her second season she was given a $3m raise to $15m.
It was reported last year that when Jennifer asked for another $2m raise to come back for her third season the Idol producers refused and she walked.

FRAUD!: Fake CNN Reporter Swindles Bayelsa Government And Officials

Paul Yempe, who passed himself off as a journalist working for the US-based Cable News Network (CNN), succeeded in swindling key officials of the Bayelsa State government.
The fraudster obtained various sums of money running into millions of naira from state officials who were desperate to receive favorable coverage about the state beset by rising insecurity and incessant kidnappings.
Investigations by SaharaReporters revealed that Allison Okuro, the secretary to the Bayelsa government, as well as Martins Fefegha, the state's commissioner of Information, were among the victims who lost money in the fraudulent deal that was recently exposed.

A source said the fake reporter had moved round several government ministries, departments and agencies collecting bribes before his luck ran out.
Our reporter learned that Mr. Okuro, a professor, had offered hotel accommodation to the imposter and had written a memo seeking the release of funds for a phony documentary promised by the fake reporter in addition to advance cash payments to Mr. Yempe.
Contacted to react on his involvement, the Commissioner for Information declined to state the amount of money he had advanced to the fake journalist. He however admitted that there were plans to lodge money into the reporter’s account before the deceptive deal came to limelight.
Mr. Yempe was taken into custody when he approached the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Energy to solicit funds for an interview for a supposed documentary to be aired on CNN.
Police spokesman Alex Akhigbe confirmed the arrest, but said the case was still being investigated. He declined to mention the number of officials fleeced of cash by the fake reporter or to reveal the amount involved.
A reporter in Bayelsa told SaharaReporters that Mr. Yempe is a senior staff of Radio Rivers in Port Harcourt.
CNN could not immediately confirm if it has any connection with the suspected fake reporter.

Five American Idols in the BillBoard Top 200.. For One Week At Least

I was curious how well Lee DeWyze's "Frames" album would sell, and it seems ironic it landed only 3 positions away from another Idol. Unfortunately that was 3 positions behind a greatest hits collection that has been out for 40 weeks now, although it was from the original American Idol herself, Kelly Clarkson. Lee's "Frames" landed at #116 and Kelly's "Greatest Hits" album was at #113. Since the Roughstock blog notes that the #112 and #118 albums both sold around 3,000 units we can presume that both Lee and Kelly sold that many albums this week too. For Season 9 fans keeping track, Crystal Bowersox's sophomore release, "All That For This", debuted with 8,000 in sales in its first week to place at #71 and stayed on the chart for 2 weeks back in April.

The other three Idols on the BillBoard 200 this week are the same ones as before, with the top two again switching positions. Carrie Underwood had a nice increase to #44 last week when her live DVD came out, but now she falls back in line at #81, whereas Phillip Phillip's "The World from the Side of the Moon" improved yet again (his fifth time in the last nine weeks) to land at #53 and lead the pack. Fantasia's "Side Effects of You" slides down to #155 from #125 next week so she might slip out of the Top 200 next week, or she may not. It will also be interesting to see if Lee will remain in the Top 200 for two weeks or not.

This weekend is the end of the Season 12 Live Tour so now they can all concentrate on releasing some music. Candice Glover's "Music Speaks" has disappeared off of HitsDailyDouble's "Upcoming Releases" for October 8, so it will be interesting to see if it is still released then or not.

As for next week, numbers for Mandisa's "Overcomer" should be released and I am hoping she does well. Her album is currently the #1 selling Christian album on amazon.com so that is a good sign.

Sean Kingston Sued For Gang Rape

Sean Kingston and his bodyguard gang raped a drunk teenager in the singer's hotel room back in 2010, according to a new lawsuit -- but Sean says it's B.S.Carissa Capeloto now 22 claims she was forced to have sex with Sean, his bodyguard and a member of Sean's band at a Seattle hotel in July, 2010, after she had smoked pot and downed 7-10 shots of vodka.
Capeloto who has sued all 3 men alleges she'd been invited to Kingston's hotel room for a meet-and-greet following a Bieber concert -- where Kingston had also performed but when she showed up ... Kingston was waiting naked on his bed.
Capeloto claims the bodyguard picked her up and placed her on top of Kingston, and all three of the men proceeded to gang rape her while she was "obviously intoxicated, incapable of consent."
Capeloto says her friend later entered the room and rescued her. The police were called and Capeloto was taken to the hospital where she says she was treated for physical injuries consistent with rape.
She says her life has been ruined ... she can barely sleep, has mood swings and panic attacks. Capeloto wants $5 mil minimum.
Criminal charges against Kingston were dropped in 2010 after cops concluded Capeloto wasn't credible enough for a legit case.
Kingston has filed legal docs insisting the sex was 100% consensual.Trial is set for November.

They have fallen in love with one another. And now they want to marry since the mom, Betty Mbereko from Mwenezi in Masvingo, is five months pregnant and expecting her son’s child.
Mbereko (42), who was widowed 11 years ago, has been cohabiting with her first child, Farai Mbereko (23). She confirms that she is six months pregnant and that she has decided it is better to “marry” her son because she does not want to marry her late husband’s young brothers, whom she says are coveting her.
Betty stunned a village court last week when she said the affair with her son had begun three years earlier. She said after spending a lot of money sending Farai to school following the death of her husband, she felt she had a right to his money and no other woman was entitled to it.

“Look, I strove alone to send my son to school and no one helped me. Now you see that my son is working and you accuse me of doing something wrong. “Let me enjoy the products of my sweat,” she told the village court.
Farai said he was more than prepared to marry his mother and would pay off the ilobola balance his father had left unpaid to his grandparents. “I know my father died before he finished paying the bride price and I am prepared to pay it off,” he said.

"I Almost Became A Prostitute" - Mercy Johnson Opens Up

Recently, I was at the Boys Reform Home, Oregun, Lagos, the discussion I had with the principal Mr. Kotun and much later with the Special Adviser in charge of allremand homes in Lagos set me thinking about the boys and girls on the street. They have dreams too. Can they fulfill those dreams on the street? The answer will likely be no; because I won't be where I am today if I ended up on the street. 
For this reason, Mercy Johnson Foundation will be doing a lot to get kids off the street. We are not asking people for money or donation, I will do all I can with the resources God has given me, and with the support of my husband to help get these kids off the street and set them on the path where they can begin to pursue their dreams. I want to plead with people, fans, friends and colleagues to spare a thought for the children on the street. We can begin by educating people around us, parents, the children and people in charge of children (Oga-house help relationship, teacher-student relationship, and others) on the need to treat every child like the future of Nigeria depends on it. And truth be told, our future will not be all that enjoyable if we let the scourge of 'street-children' fester. By then, the rich will begin to cry. I learnt Lagos State Government has 11 homes where most children picked from the streets are kept, reformed and reunited with their families after counseling
That is an initiative Mercy Johnson Foundation will be supporting and beyond that we will be going to different states to help spread the message-Get kids off the street, save the future. From tomorrow, I will begin to replay some of the lessons I learnt at the boys' reform home and we all can contribute to getting the kids off the street.

Book Review: The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins, 2008)

Gripping. Terrifying. Heart-pounding.

Those are just a few of the adjectives floating through my mind while reading The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins' acclaimed novel, the first of the sci-fi/fantasy trilogy of the same name.

The Hunger Games takes place in the fictional nation of Panem, which was supposedly North America hundreds of years ago. The country, now facing extreme poverty and starvation, is divided into twelve "districts", not unlike states, and is ruled by the "Capitol". A failed uprising of the districts against the cruel Capitol resulted in the creation of "The Hunger Games"- a brutal, bloody punishment disguised as a televised competition where twenty four children- one girl and one boy between the ages of 12 and 18, from each district- must fight to the death. The victor is granted a lifetime of riches, and his or her district is given an abundance of food for a year.

When her little sister's name is chosen for the 74th Annual Hunger Games, sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen bravely volunteers in her place. Joining Katniss from District 12 is baker's son Peeta Mellark. Katniss is a born hunter, so when she is thrown into the arena - a dense forest- she feels right at home. But with everyone out to kill her, obstacles around every corner, and romantic feelings for her opponent, Peeta, can Katniss survive the Games?

First things first, this book is amazing.

The standout for me was the character of Katniss. Katniss doesn't have superpowers, nor is she gorgeous. In fact, she's just too normal. So normal she's extraordinary. She wasn't born with incredible archery skills- she learned how to handle a bow and arrow because she needed to survive as a starving child. She practiced. Katniss' ultimate act of bravery- volunteering to take her sister's place in the Games- is heart rending. In Katniss, readers have a new heroine to look up to. Katniss isn't perfect, and is brilliantly flawed, making her instantly relatable. Personally, I haven't come across a stronger heroine in a YA novel since Harry Potter's Hermione Granger.

Another really impressive feature of the book is the premise and concept. The very idea of children fighting to the death in a poverty-stricken nation while the wealthy enjoy it as entertainment is terrifying, mostly because it's so realistic. Sci-fi elements abound, but are never "in your face", and are treated ordinarily. For instance, a gigantic projection screen in the sky, hovercrafts and genetically altered animals are just a few of the things in Collins' vividly imagined world.

The Hunger Games contains a plethora of themes for those who love to dissect literary works. The effects of war on children and their families, having to grow up too soon in a war-torn world, the political aspects (a cruel Capitol oppressing the many Districts), the struggle for independence, and so on. Collins cleverly satirizes reality television:  every minute detail such as wardrobe decisions, interview questions, sponsors, and producer gimmicks- are given attention. Bet you never realized how much a contestants' impression on the minds of the audience really matters. Think of that the next time you're watching American Idol. This reality show aspect, combined with the sheer "kill or be killed" mechanic guarantees a nail-biter.

Readers are in for an adrenaline-pumping rush of a book. Collins leaves readers on pins and needles at the end of every chapter, prompting you to just go on reading, wanting more. The book is written in the voice of Katniss, lending a personal touch and giving us a glimpse at her motives and emotions. Katniss is torn between  her growing feelings for Peeta; while at the same time feels guilty about betraying her hometown friend Gale Hawthorne. And no, this isn't just another Twilight-esque love triangle. Things in Collins' world are seldom what they seem; plot twists come out of nowhere, throwing you in a totally different direction at times.

Gory, dark and well plotted, The Hunger Games is possibly one of the greatest young adult books of all time. It's easily the best novel I've read in a while. If you're thinking of buying this, don't hesitate, it's a guaranteed page-turner. It had me gasping and clutching the edge of my seat for all of its 374 pages and 27 chapters (and yes, it's not an incredibly big book).

Man Caught In His Car Having Sex With His Daughter

A Florida man busted with drugs was likewise discovered engaging in sexual act in his car with his stepdaughter, police say Barry Thompson, 53, was captured Sunday after sheriff's representatives in Deltona discovered him in his car close to the door of Pride Elementary School. They let him know he was trespassing on school property, consistent with the Sun Sentinel. His 29-year-old stepdaughter was in the traveler seat. 

The point when inquired as to why his jeans were unzipped, Thompson apparently admitted that he and his stepdaughter had a sexual relationship that they were attempting to avoid his wife, who is the lady's mother. 

After Thompson was captured for trespassing on school grounds, representatives sought his car and discovered 51 drug Dilaudid pills. Our BBA king and queen got back to Nigeria last night - Melvin & Beverly.

We heard there was security everywhere!! Fans were too much.....No space in d Airport -  Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos!!Melvin and Beverly are currently right now.
It was crazy at the airport. Security peeps were shielding Melvin from fans and family. Beverly was in tears. Melvin came out and a thousand and 1 people started singing 'Ruby Ruby Ruby'.
As soon as Melvin & Beverly were guided to their vehicle, the crowd mobbed Uti.Beverly's mum pushed her way through the crowd & entered the same vehicle with Bev & Mel. Nobody could say shii, *lol*
Bev couldn't stop gisting her mum inside d car .The crowd was pissed at IK, they can't stop blaming him...
