With just a little over a week to go for the American Idol finale, its time to get serious and consider which one of the three girls standing could actually win this season. While the Top 3 head home for their hometown visits, let's take a look at where they stand at this point in the competition:
3. KREE HARRISON I'm downgrading Kree from 2nd to 3rd. Her last few weeks haven't been the best, and she's got to the point of monotony. Don't get me wrong, Kree is amazing. Her style and artistry are unmatched, and she remains loveable and genuine as always. But do I see her as a winner with the fireworks and the confetti? I don't think so. She could easily crack the Top 2, but I just don't think she'll win anymore, even though I know I said so three weeks ago. She does stand a big chance, but for now, I'm saying third place.
2. CANDICE GLOVER Also moving a position down is Candice, who I rank a (very close) second. Candice is clearly the best voice in the competition, but she just doesn't have that massive fanbase Angie has. Candice is yet to have a "bad" performance, and she sparkles week after week no matter what. I think Candice has a great shot at making the finale- but judging by the all important country vote, Kree could beat her and make the Top 2. We'll have to wait and see if Candice Glover meets the same fate as Melinda Doolittle, but until then, keep voting!
1. ANGIE MILLER Angie's back to her #1 spot. Her performance of "Someone To Watch Over Me" this past week really put her back into the competition. I wouldn't say that Angie has a better voice than Candice, but Angie is a natural and something tells me she's going to have a big career post-Idol. Her fanbase is huge (over 100,000 followers on Twitter) and she's simply the most charismatic contestant we've has this season. It's a no-brainer that she'll make the Top 2. The question is, will she be able to beat Kree or Candice?
It's been a somewhat lackluster season, but the Top 3 is undeniably talented and the race to the finish is a close one. Kree, Angie and Candice all have distinct styles and come from different genres (country, Christian rock and R&B), so this Top 3 is definitely well selected. All three of these girls stand an equal chance of taking the Idol crown- it all comes down to these last two weeks. Song choice and performance are everything. And of course, so are your votes! Just eight more days, and one of these girls will be singing a ballad amidst fireworks and confetti on the Nokia Theater stage.
The American Idol Top 3 take the stage on Wednesday, May 8 and the Top 2 contestants will be revealed on Thursday, May 9. The Top 2 showdown airs Wednesday, May 15, and we find out who the next American Idol is on TV's biggest night, Thursday, May 16 on FOX.
