Are you still in shock from last Thursday's elimination of Angie Miller? Well, I've recovered. Angie is a class act and although she isn't in the finale, you can't deny that she has a bright future ahead of her. Candice and Kree, our Season 12 Top 2, are in a league of their own. Both are incredibly talented, unique and amazing.
I suppose it would be proper to "rank" them, as I've been doing all season, but this time, I'll just do a general overview and of course, predict who'll be your next American Idol! Let's go!
CANDICE GLOVER: Candice has had an incredible run. Considering this was the third time she actually tried out for Idol (she tried out in Seasons 9 and 11), the fact that she's made it to the finale is amazing. Clearly she's been working hard and has been pushing herself. Candice is one of the breakout stars of this season. She's only been in the Bottom 2 once (Top 4 week) and has been in the Top 3 once and Top 2 another time this season, vote-wise. Her soulful, bombastic sound assures that she's the new diva on the scene. Candice has never really had a "bad" performance. She's made great song selections and has carefully created her signature sound and image. Some of her best moments on the show include her renditions of I Who Have Nothing, Lovesong and most recently, Somewhere. I'm not sure exactly what type of album Candice will put out, although my guess is it will be R&B/soul, much like Jennifer Hudson or Adele.
KREE HARRISON: Kree has been the dark horse throughout the competition this year. Her stirring, bluesy country style is irresistible and pleasing to the ear. Like Candice, Kree too has never really had a bad performance, and she's been among the top 2 or 3 vote getters every single time it's been announced. However, Kree has ended up in the Bottom 2 once (Top 5 Week). Kree's sweet, mellow personality and backstory has won over many hearts. Remember her emotional homecoming? Some of Kree's best moments on the show include her performances of Up To The Mountain, Crying and just last week, Here Comes Goodbye. If Kree wins, I think she will have a great career and sell many, many records IF she makes some great music. And from the looks of it, she will.
So who will win? Technically, since Candice is the bigger voice, she should win. But counting Kree's impressive run, she might just walk away with the title. And lets not count out the powerful country vote. I think Kree might win. Although I believe Candice deserves it rightfully. Either way, I love them both. When I saw the Top 3, I remember thinking, this is going to be really tough. Personally, I'm just happy to see two girls in the finale!
Candice and Kree battle it out TONIGHT, Wednesday, May 15. One of them will be crowned the next American Idol (and the first female winner in six years!) on Thursday, May 16, 8/7c on FOX.
