To help emphasize how American Idol makes real stars, Phillip Phillips' "World From the Side of the Moon" has
re-entered the Top 10 of the
BillBoard album chart. With an additional 25K in sales, the album lands at #8 with total sales now of 644K after nine solid weeks. Accompanying Phillip on the BillBoard 200 album chart are the same two ladies as always, who continue to battle out the chart positions, this time with Kelly Clarkson at #36 and Carrie Underwood at #37. Kelly's "Greatest Hits" album sold another 11K to reach 240K in total and Carrie's "Blown Away" sold another 10K to reach 1.247M. Carrie's album has reached the point where I am soon going to have to raise the maximum on my chart (1.25M) again, which makes me have to scrunch down everybody else even more!
Phillips' sales of 644K are now after 9 weeks just barely ahead of
Scotty McCreerys' 9 week tally of 630K last year which was in early December 2011. It will be interesting to see if Phillips' pace can keep up with Scotty's when his sales were headed into the Christmas 2011 prime selling season. Luckily Phillip will have the new American Idol season to help boost his sales. Let's see how many times they can play "Home" and "Gone, Gone, Gone" during the program over the next few weeks!
