The Idol Chatter blog posted numbers this week so I can add Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger" to my BillBoard 200 chart. That seems appropriate since hers is now the album that has been on the chart the longest, over a full year now! This week Kelly sold another 3K to bring her total up to 952K and keep her at #151 with just a couple more weeks to hold on until her "Greatest Hits - Chapter One" album is released. Kelly (orange) can now join Carrie Underwood (blue) and Scotty McCreery (green) in the weekly BillBoard 200 chart graph. When Kelly's greatest hits album is released on the 19th (along with Phillip Phillips' "World From the Side of the Moon") we should have 4 American Idol winners back on the BillBoard 200 again (and Kelly possibly twice)! This week, in fact, Scotty is on the chart twice since his QVC bundle is listed there separately (#89 on Roughstock, #93 on Idol Chatter) but that is a one time listing which will disappear next week. Kelly may be able to stay on the BillBoard 200 with two albums for consecutive weeks if she is lucky!
I updated my total sales chart with the chart topping Idols (Carrie, Kelly, Scotty) and one other listed in the Idol Chatter list for the week, Casey James. His debut album added 1,000 more in sales after his CMA Awards appearance to reach 57,000 total. Casey now has a Top 20 hit on country radio with "Crying on a Suitcase", but that still has not helped his album sales out too much. His album was released back in March, and it had already been outsold by "Christmas With Scotty McCreery" last week in only its second week (58K) and it will take Casey's album a long time (if ever) to reach Scotty's sales in just 3 weeks (75K or 80K if you include the QVC sales.) It is not easy to sell a lot of albums these days, even with a decent country radio hit.
