Wow, I am not sure who keeps purchasing so many of Scotty McCreery's EP, but somebody does. Now in its fourth week of sales it sold another 14,000 copies putting his grand total at 86,000. His sales this week of 14,000 almost matches the combined sales of the other three finalists (with 5,000 each for a total of 15,000.) It is also quite amazing how close together Lauren, Haley and James are now tracking each other in sales. You can tell from their BillBoard 200 rankings from week to week and how close they are together:
After the first week out, Lauren, James and Haley have been incredibly close in BillBoard ranking:
July 6: #24 Lauren, #31 James, #37 Haley (20K, 15K and 14K respectively)
July 13: #35 Lauren, #37 Haley, #38 James (10,000-11,000 in sales for each)
July 20: #69 James, #70 Haley, #74 Lauren (6,000-7,000 in sales for each)
July 27: #95 James, #103 Haley, #109 Lauren (~5,000 in sales for each)
Scotty, on the other hand is a model of consistency, with his BillBoard ranking starting at #10, then going to #19, then steady to #20 and a small drop this week to #26. Even more impressive has been Scotty's iTunes singles sales ranking where "I Love You This Big" continues to stay in the Top 100 in sales for two months.
Now after four weeks the combined EP sales has surpassed 200,000 units.
Third Week EP Sales - Scotty's Sales Actually Increase!
In an unexpected turn, the sales for Scotty McCreery's EP actually increased over last week to about 17,000, putting his total sales at 72,000 in three weeks. The weekly sales for Lauren, James and Haley are almost identical (in the mid 6,000's) as their total sales are fairly close together (Lauren at 37,000, James at 32,000 and Haley at 31,000.) On the BillBoard Top 200 chart, Scotty remains strong at #20 whereas James is next at #69 with Haley right behind him at #70 and Laurne close by at #74. The grand tally for all four of them is now 172,000 EP's sold.
Second Week EP Sales Strong for Season 10 Idols
With the American Idol Season 10 tour well on its way, the Top 4 continue to see their EP's selling pretty well. Scotty McCreery added 14,000 more in sales to take his total to 54,000, and the other three are very close, selling between 10,000 and 11,000 this week taking their totals to 31,000 for Lauren Alaina, 25,000 for James Durbin and 24,000 for Haley Reinhart. For anyone counting, that is a total of 134,000 in sales for the four of them in two weeks. On the BillBoard 200 chart this week, Scotty falls to #19, but Lauren, James and Haley are bunched together with Lauren at #35, Haley at #37 and James at #38. For the second straight week all four of them remain among the top 40 best selling albums in the US!
First Week EP Sales Out for Season 10 Top 4
The Top 4 from Season 10 of American Idol released their 4 song EP's at Walmart last week and the initial sales looks good for all four of them. Scotty McCreery leads the pack selling 40,000 copies of his EP to put him at #10 on the BillBoard chart for the week. That is actually more than Lee DeWyze sold his first week of his debut studio album last fall. It is amazing what good marketing and a strong radio single can do for you! Lauren Alaina is next with 20,000 in sales which put her at #24 on the chart (top 25 for Lauren, not too shabby!) James and Haley were pretty close together, with James at #31 with 15,000 in sales and Haley at #37 with 14,000 in sales. Since these were all available only at Walmart that is pretty impressive for all 4 of them to end up in the BillBoard Top 40 with total sales of almost 90,000 between them all.
